Taconic Music presents Windhaven at Maple Street School

Posted
MANCHESTER — For a second year, Taconic Music welcomes ensembles from Weston's Kinhaven Music School to Manchester, with concerts in late May and early June.

The first of these will take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, when KMS's Windhaven band will perform for the public in Maple Street School's Hunter Room.

Admission is $10 at the door, with all proceeds benefiting Taconic Music's educational outreach programs.

Windhaven is a selective, week-long immersive program of woodwinds, brass, and percussion, led by Dr. Thomas McCauley, director of university bands at the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair (N.J.) State University.

Last spring, the Windhaven orchestra took the audience's breath away with a stunning performance of David Maslanka's 4th symphony. This year they return to present Maslanka's epic 7th symphony, along with selections by Charles Ives, William Bolcom and Joseph Turrin.
