Registration underway for Girls On The Run

Posted
BRATTLEBORO — Registration is still on the way for the 19th season of Girls On The Run, an annual running program serving girls grades three through eight in Southern Vermont.

The after-school program is designed to help girls realize the importance of self-confidence, healthy living, respect for their peers, and responsibility to their community. The lessons creatively integrate running, providing the girls with an opportunity to set goals and challenge themselves in an encouraging environment that advocates both physical and emotional wellness.

In 2017, Girls on the Run was also recognized by the National Afterschool Association (NAA) as one of the most influential after-school programs.

The program starts the week of Feb. 26, with exact dates and times varying by location, and will culminate with a 5k celebration on May 12 in Brattleboro. Limited financial assistance is available to ensure that each girl who wishes to participate can, regardless of financial ability.

Registration continues through Feb. 21 and space for each site is limited. In the Northshire, Girls On The Run programs are being offered at the following locations: The Dorset School, Flood Brook School, Jamaica Village School, Leland & Gray, and Sunderland Elementary School.
