Chabad of Manchester

Chabad of Manchester invites all to the Passover Community Seder which will be held at 8 p.m. on Monday, April 10 and at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11 at the Equinox Resort in Manchester Village. Guests will enjoy handmade shmura matzah, four cups of kosher wine, a delicious catered meal, and insights and songs throughout. Christ Our Savior Parish, Manchester

Maundy Thursday: The Mass of the Lord's Supper will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, It will end with the transfer of the blessed sacrament to the repository, and adoration. Mass will be followed by the opportunity to celebrate the sacrament of penance.

Good Friday: At 5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 14, we will hold the solemn commemoration of the Lord's passion, veneration of the cross and holy communion. This service will be followed by the opportunity for the sacrament of penance. At 7 p.m. we will mark the Seven Last Words of Christ with a service of word, music and silence prolonging the themes of the solemn liturgy.

Holy Saturday: At 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 15, the blessing of Easter Foods is a brief ceremony of Polish origin; traditional Easter food items (meats, eggs, candy - yes, candy) are blessed so that the breaking of the Lenten fast may be not a return to ordinary eating, but a sharing in the heavenly banquet that Easter inaugurates. At 8 p.m. is the Vigil of Easter, in which a service of light and a somewhat extended liturgy of the Word lead up to a joyful renewal of Baptismal promises and Holy Communion celebrated as a life-sharing with the Risen One.

Easter Sunday: At 8 and 10 a.m., Sunday, April 16, masses in celebration of the Resurrection of the Lord with renewal of baptismal promises.

Community Easter Sunrise Service

The annual Manchester Area Community Ecumenical Easter Sunrise Service will be held at 6:30 a.m. on Easter Sunday, April 16 on the porch of the Dormy Grill on Union Street, overlooking the golf course.

Rev. Dr. Gordon McClellan of the First Congregational Church will bring the Easter message. Following the sunrise service, coffee, cocoa and donuts will be served at the First Congregational Church vestry. The public is invited. First Congregational Church, Manchester

Maundy Thursday: Tenebrae and Communion Service at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 13 in the sanctuary.

Good Friday: Services at noon on April 14 will feature readings and prayers in the Chapel.

Easter Sunday: Services featuring special vocal and handbell choir music will start at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 16 in the Sanctuary. All our welcome to celebrate with us during this sacred season.

Israel Congregation of Manchester

Israel Congregation of Manchester, located at 6025 Main Street, Manchester Center (next to Town Hall), invites you to our Second Night Community Seder at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11. We maintain a vegetarian kitchen and will provide the ritual dishes and meal basics. If you'd like to bring a dish to share, please let us assign you one based on our needs. There is no cost for this event, but we would like you to RSVP by April 7 at 802-362-4578. If you find yourself unable to RSVP, you're still welcome to join us.

First Baptist Church, Manchester

Palm Sunday: Holy Week begins as the Sunday School and members of the congregation will parade with palms around the Farmer's Market Park beginning at 10:15 a.m on Sunday, April 9, returning in time for worship to begin at 10:30.

Maundy Thursday: At 6:00 p.m. on April 13, a seder meal at the Baptist Church will feature roast leg of lamb. The service concludes with communion. All are welcome and there is a sign-up sheet at the church.

Good Friday: The service begins at 3:30 p.m. on April 14. The church will be open a half hour earlier for meditation and prayer with the pealing of the bell at 30 second intervals.

Easter Sunday: The Easter worship service begins at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 16 as we celebrate with our floral cross, special music and a message from Pastor Rebecca Sommons reflecting on the day.

Northshire Baptist Church, Manchester

Northshire Baptist Church (5769 Main St., Manchester Center) will be holding a Good Friday Service from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 14 and Easter Sunday Service at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 16.

The Sunday Worship Service is usually held at 9:30 a.m., but on Easter Sunday the congregation will be holding a special service at Equinox Terrace at 9:45 a.m., and then heading to the Northshire Baptist Church building for an 11:00 a.m. Easter Sunday Worship Service. St. James' Episcopal Parish, Arlington

Palm Sunday: Rite I (quiet and contemplative) at 8 a.m. on Sunday, April 9 Holy Eucharist, and Rite II at 10 a.m with procession of palms, organ music, congregational singing and dramatic reading of the Passion narrative.

Tenebrae: At 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, the Tenebrae service includes psalms, readings, and canticles. It includes the use of lighted candles, one of which is extinguished at the end of each reading. The final candle is left lighted, suggesting Christ's eventual triumph over evil and death.

Maundy Thursday: Service beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 13. Foot washing, holy eucharist, and stripping of the altar.

Good Friday: Liturgy at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 14 including the veneration of the cross, followed by holy silence.

Holy Saturday: Easter Vigil service at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, "From Darkness to Light, From Death to Life." Lighting of the new fire and the paschal candle; the first eucharist of Easter; organ music and congregational singing.

Easter Sunday: On Sunday, April 16, holy eucharist at 8 a.m Rite I (quiet and contemplative) and Rite II at 10 a.m. with organ music and congregational singing. A festive coffee hour will follow the service on Easter Day. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the miracle of Easter. Full-text service leaflets are provided at all services. All are welcome.

United Church of Dorset and East Rupert

Maundy Thursday: At 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 13 there will be a foot-washing Service, followed at 5:30 p.m. with an Agape Potluck Supper and at 7 p.m. with a Tenebrae service.

Good Friday: At noon on Friday, April 14 there will be a Seven Last Words of the Cross Service.

Easter Sunday: All are welcome to join us at 10 a.m. on Easter Sunday, April 16. The black curtain covering the Tiffany window in honor of Good Friday will be unveiled and trumpet music will be played in celebration of the Resurrection. This joyous service lights the pathway of possibility for our hearts and lives.

Zion Episcopal Church, Manchester

Zion Episcopal Church in Manchester Center invites the community to Holy Week and Easter services and events.

Palm Sunday: Services at 8 and 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 9 include the Liturgy of the Palms, the Passion Gospel and Holy Eucharist.

Morning Prayer will be said at 9:00 a.m. Monday, April 10 through Friday, April 14.

Maundy Thursday: At 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, the traditional pot luck (lamb provided) supper will be held, followed by the service of foot washing and holy Eucharist at 7:00 p.m.

Good Friday: The Good Friday liturgy is at noon on Friday, April 14 and lasts about an hour.

Holy Saturday: At 7 p.m. on Easter Eve we will be joined by special guests Taconic Music.

Easter Sunday: Services begin with a sunrise service on Mt. Equinox (weather permitting) — the gate on Skyline Drive in Sunderland opens at 5:30 a.m. and the service is at 6:00 a.m. Easter services continue at 8 and 10 a.m. at Zion Church with an Easter Egg Hunt following the 10 a.m. service. Zion Church is located at 5167 Main Street.
