Presentation on civic literacy

On Thursday, Aug. 17, a panel of local teachers will discuss what they teach about civic literacy in our schools. The panel discussion will take place in The Spiral Press Caf at the Northshire Bookstore from 7 to 8:30pm. Panelists include John Graf of Burr and Burton Academy, Eric Schatz and Kraig Hannum of MEMS, Geoff Chamberlain of Maple Street School, and Tim Smith of Long Trail School.

How do they make learning about our government engaging? How are students responding? What impact does information on the Internet have on learning how our governing systems work? How can we foster Civic Literacy in our community?

Please join us for this important discussion that is being organized by Peg Gregory, Suzanne Ordway and Martha Heilemann.
