DANBY — The towns of Danby and Mount Tabor will celebrate the completion of the community's new veterans memorial at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15. Four new features have been added to the memorial in Danby Village, at the intersection of Mount Tabor Ave and South Main Street. The additions include a plaza and benches built with marble from Danby's own quarry, addition of the names of veterans from the Middle East conflicts, fourteen commemorative plaques honoring individual veterans, and recognition of the local militia from the towns' early days.Last year, the memorial was dedicated with a bronze memorial bearing the names of more than 700 townspeople who served in the U.S. armed forces during wartimeVeterans Memorial Celebration. For more information, contact Rich Carter at 860-418- 9863 or RLCarter70@comcast.net.
